How we evaluated these hosts

Provider-documented facts

We checked official plans and help pages for hosting type, first-term and renewal terms, sites, storage, traffic language, backups, SSL, domains, email, migration, WordPress management, staging, support and refund terms. A missing public price stays missing.

BestPickRadar editorial fit

“Best suited for” describes which website need may fit the documented plan. It is an editorial interpretation, not a measured result. We did not independently benchmark server speed, uptime, TTFB, load handling, Core Web Vitals or support response time.

Introductory pricing, renewals and real cost

A monthly equivalent divides a prepaid purchase by its months; it is not a month-to-month bill. Hostinger’s published Premium offer requires 48 months upfront, while SiteGround StartUp uses a 12-month prepaid offer. DreamHost publishes the first-year and annual renewal side by side. Cloudways Flexible charges for cloud usage hourly and invoices monthly; Kinsta’s current monthly offer has a free first month followed by its stated monthly charge.

First term

Multiply the monthly equivalent by the required months or use the provider’s stated upfront total. Check taxes at checkout.

Ongoing term

Compare the renewal rate and renewal length. If a public term is unclear, review the current checkout before paying.

Beyond hosting

Add domain renewal, email after a trial, optional CDN or backup services, migration charges where applicable, and taxes.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about hosting types, introductory prices, renewals and the features to check before choosing a plan.

What type of web hosting is best for a small website?

Standard shared web hosting is often a practical starting point. Compare the ongoing renewal, storage, backup and email terms before choosing a plan.

How much should web hosting cost?

It depends on the hosting type and billing term. Compare the full first-term charge, ongoing renewal, domain, email, add-ons and applicable taxes rather than a monthly equivalent alone.

Why does hosting renewal cost more than the introductory price?

Many providers discount the first prepaid term. The renewal uses the rate and term shown in the provider's current offer or checkout.

Do I need managed WordPress hosting?

It can help when WordPress maintenance, backups, staging or specialist workflows matter to you. A small WordPress site may also fit a standard web hosting plan.

Is cheap web hosting suitable for a small business?

It can be, if the plan covers your storage, backup, email, support and growth needs. Check the renewal cost and whether essential features require a higher tier.

What is the difference between shared hosting and cloud hosting?

Shared plans package resources and services for straightforward sites. Managed cloud plans give more infrastructure choice and scaling control, with pricing tied to the selected server and usage.

Do web hosting plans include a free domain?

Some plans include an eligible domain for the first year. The extension, renewal price and billing term still need checking.

Do I need separate email hosting?

It depends on the plan. Some include mailboxes, some include a trial, and some offer paid email add-ons. Check the term and mailbox needs before purchase.
